The History of East Door: When we reopened the East Door Ministry Saint Andrew’s gained an opportunity to grow in our fulfillment of the Lord’s command to love our neighbors. The Young Adult Ministry have organized back-packing evenings and outside groups (a Girl Scout Troop and a group of boys from a local Christian school) have also come to both pack and distribute backpacks. Just prior to the major winter storm, we were able to distribute sandwiches, hats / coats / gloves / blankets, and hand warmers. Additionally, we have made four trips to Cornerstone Assistance to drop off donated items which we are unable to use at East Door. This ministry is already important for our community!
Our Savior is as clear as He can be about helping the poor...we are to be beacons of His love and provision to those in need. As a downtown church, St. Andrew’s is particularly situated in an environment where opportunities to help our neighbors are plentiful. As we continue to learn from our outreach efforts and as we develop new ways to help our friends in need, please consider how you can help with this effort.Summer is near and we are in need of seasonal clothing: shorts, t-shirts (preferably large, XL, and XXL), and pre-packaged snacks.
