The purpose of the Altar Guild is to assist the clergy of the parish in care and preparation of the altars for weekly services and in many other aspects of worship. The members work directly under the orders and authority of the Rector. A St. Andrew’s member whom the Rector has invited and who has accepted membership in the Guild must have instructions in procedure and terminology to insure uniformly high standards. The directress or experienced members serve as trainers. Prospective members must complete the required training courses before participating as an active member.
Donating flowers for the altars of the church is a wonderful expression of our love for God and also the individual being honor or remembered. A donation for the main church altar (pictured at the top) is $115 and a donation for the the chapel altar $75. The donation for the children's altar (pictured at the botton) is $10. A donation of flowers at any of the altars is a blessing in honor of our loved ones, as well as for each Sunday's worshipping congregation. It is also a beautiful gift to our Lord. You may make your payment at the church office or contact Debbie Mitchell.
New acolytes are recruited and trained in the summer following confirmation, providing a ministry to the parish immediately after becoming full communicant members of the church. Acolytes serve on Sundays, as well as for weddings, funerals and other special services. Each acolyte is trained with the updated Acolyte Manual. For more information please email Bob Haslam, Acolyte Warden.
Chalice bearers at St. Andrew's assist in approximately 120 Sunday morning and 50 mid-week Holy Communion services each year. Currently we have 12 licensed Chalice Bearers. For more information, please email Steve Waters, or call (817) 913-5565
Each Sunday, a team of Greeters is available before and after the service to extend a warm welcome to visitors and answer any questions they may have. Greeter teams are usually scheduled for service every other month. For more information on serving St. Andrew’s as a Greeter, please contact Karen Ferrer.
