Five Reasons to Come:

A Festival of Advent

Lessons & Carols

Sunday, December 17th at 10:30 a.m.

in the Church

A Priceless Gift for the Season…Bring a Friend!

1) To Feast on God’s Word

Lessons and Carols is the story of God’s plan for the salvation of mankind as revealed in His Word beginning in the Old Testament and ending in the New Testament. Each reading is followed by a carol or anthem allowing for further meditation on the text. You will leave immersed in Biblical language.

2) To Sing Your Heart Out in Celebration and Adoration The Lessons and Carols service is a unique opportunity to hear and sing songs, some you have heard on the radio this season, and some that the world has ignored.

3) To be Part of Something Bigger than You

You will be united not just with those standing at your left and right, but with Christians around the world both today and in the past who have listened to the same readings and sung the same texts since the eighteenth and nineteenth Centuries.

4) To Wake up to the Real Awesomeness of the Season Step out of the chaos of this world and into another; out of the world’s time and into God’s time. Be blown away by the most awesome event in the history of all creation, the Incarnation. This is a time to stop and focus on the sheer magnificence of the event and what it must have felt like to a be Mary, or a shepherd, or a wise man journeying through strange lands; what it actually felt like to be “sore afraid” and to hear angels proclaim “Fear not” your hope has been fulfilled. The King of all creation has been born, the One who will dry every tear, mend creation, and triumph over all evil.

5) To be Reminded

As Linus reminded Charlie Brown, of “what Christmas is all about,” remember the true reason we buy gifts and decorate a tree and our homes in festive lights. We are celebrating the Light born in a stable that night to overcome the darkness of sin for all time. We celebrate the greatest gift of all, the gift of God’s immeasurable love, His Son. This service of readings and music will encourage you to unwrap this gift so that you can carry it with you through the next year.
